Center Stage Director - Pier Sircello

Pier Sircello directs “Center Stage,” the dance company, and also directs Center
Stage Dance Studio in Hilo, Hawaii. Pier received her B.A. in dance from the
University of California at Irvine in 1986. Sircello danced professionally, primarily in Los Angeles, CA, where she performed in several shows, operas, and companies, such as Disneyland’s “Fantasy on Parade” and “The Glory of Christmas.” She also has danced with companies such as The American Folk Ballet and the Francisco Martinez Dance Theatre. Since moving to Hawaii in 1996, Sircello has coordinated two residencies with ODC San Francisco to give workshops at schools and perform at the UH Performing
Arts Center, and was the children’s rehearsalist for their full-length production
of “The Velveteen Rabbit.” She now teaches all ages and all levels of ballet and
contemporary dance at Center Stage Dance Studio, and has produced several
shows at the University of Hawaii Performing Arts Center. Sircello also conceived
the ballet “The Goodnight Gecko,” based on the original bedtime story by Gill
McBarnet at the Palace Theater in Hilo. Recently Sircello has been choreographing cirque routines for Annetta Lucero -former world Champion Baton Artist -for shows in Florida and at the World Championships in Norway

Pam Chong James teaches ballet. Pam holds a degree in drama and theater with a concentration in dance from UH Manoa. She has danced professionally on Oahu with Honolulu city Ballet, Ballet Hawaii, Honolulu Dance Theatre, Hawaii Ballet Theatre as well as Hawaii Opera Theatre. She has choreographed many musicals throughout the state of Hawaii, and has taught ballet at Punahou Academy, Queen Emma Dance, and the Mid-Pacific Institute. She was the coordinator for the Big Island Dance Council's dance education project and currently teaches P.E. and health at Kamehameha Schools.

Nadia Schlosser has always known that she wanted to be an entertainer.  She’s been studying ballet, tap, and jazz since the age of two.  Dancing, acting, and singing became essential creative outlets that allowed her imagination to soar.  She developed a true appreciation for the production and development of dance, theater, and film.  She attended Cal Arts as a Dance major, completed an Apprenticeship at the Performing Arts Center, and received her Level I Certificate in Entertainment Studies through UCLA Extension.  Some of her dance credits include: acceptance to the Milwaukee Ballet School, “The Jerry Lewis Telethon” Gap dancer, “All Wheel Sports”, “Mattel E-doption Kids”, “Ally McBeal”, “Jance Productions” Assistant Choreographer, “Choreographer’s Carnival”.  Some of her film credits include “Legally Blonde”, “How High”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “The Downer Channel”, “Rowell”, “CSI”, and “Boston Public”.
Vicky Kelly-Robbins teaches Ballet, Modern and Pilates. Vicky earned her BA in Theatre Production from San Francisco State University. Her Masters degree is in Education. Much of her professional dance career was spent in Europe performing with the State Theatres in Germany at Freiburg and Kassel. She also performed 9 seasons with the Wagner Music Festival and in Italy, she danced with Teatro Danza Classico in Naples. Vicky has been teaching for over 15 years and is certified in Pilates Matwork.

Junior Hakkei and Grady Sullivan teach Breakdancing. Breakdancing includes four elements, Toprock, a term referring to the upright dancing and shuffles that B-boys do when they enter a circle, Downrock or Footwork, refers to dancing performed on the floor, Freeze, refers to the poses that B-boys throw into their dance sets to add punctuation to certain beats and end their routines and Power moves, the acrobatic moves normally made up of circular motions where the dancer will spin either on the floor, or in the air. These guys'll show ya how it's done!

 

BELLY BABES ~ BELLY DANCE TROUPE will be teaching Beginning Belly Dance. Instructors: Jewel Castro, Denise Cervine "Diviana", have diverse dance backgrounds encompassing Hula, Tahitian, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern and Belly Dance. Collectively they have been studying Belly Dance for 17 years. They have enriched their education with such renowned Belly Dance teachers as: Erna Woo, Zaina Hart, Willow Chang, Wendy Buonaventura, Delilah, Saqra, Dondi & sister Titanya. A dance by women, for women of all ages, shapes, sizes and backgrounds. Belly Dance develops grace, muscle tone, control and flexibility. It also encourages self confidence, and creative expression. Trey Sauders is a member of the Shell Shock Hip Hop Crew and has been performing at events and
at schools throughout East Hawaii for the past two years. Trey currently teaches Hip Hop at Center Stage
and has taught break dancing and hip hop for Parks and Recreation and Upward Bound at UHH. Trey
brings a different style to our hip hop classes at Center Stage with his background in Popping and Locking!

Cheryl Aue teaches tap and pre-ballet at Center Stage. In the past, Cheryl taught tap at the YWCA in Hilo and at UHH Fitness for Life! She also heads up the after school dance program at Hilo Intermediate and teaches dance for P.E. at Hilo Intermediate school. Cheryl has been teaching at Hilo Intermediate school for many years mostly teaching Health, Science, and Home Economics. Cheryl loves taking a break from the older kids to come teach Center Stage’s littlest children!
